Educating and innovating differently

ESPCI Paris – PSL aims to be internationally recognised as a leading institution for education, research and innovation in physics, chemistry and biology. It educates highly qualified engineers who are prepared to work in an international environment. To succeed in this context, students must be able to communicate with people from other countries, understand different cultures and become familiar with a variety of professional practices.

“Driving major innovations through the School’s entrepreneurial culture.” An increasing number of graduates go on to create their own companies, either immediately after leaving the School or following their PhD. This capacity for innovation is particularly valued by employers. ESPCI’s educational model builds on a strong culture of innovation shaped by the many outstanding figures who have worked at the School, including Paul Langevin, theoretical physicist and inventor of sonar, Pierre and Marie Curie, and, more recently, Pierre-Gilles de Gennes and Georges Charpak. This legacy inspires students to make their own contribution to the technological advances of the future, drawing on both their scientific knowledge and hands-on experience of innovation.
