The first cohort of the ACTION advanced Master’s Program gets underway

In late September, ESPCI Paris – PSL welcomed the very first cohort of students in the new ACTION Specialized Master’s program (Life Cycle Analysis & Industrial Emissions Reduction Pathways). Twelve students enrolled in this one-year program, designed to train specialists capable of supporting sustainable development and the decarbonization of industry.

A specialized master’s degree tailored to the needs of sustainable strategies

The Specialized Master’s program, which has been accredited by the Conférence des grandes écoles, is a post-master’s degree designed to meet highly specific professional needs. Students in the MS ACTION program will, in particular, be able to conduct life-cycle analyses, train employees, propose relevant indicators, and develop new monitoring tools that comply with current standards. By leveraging existing technologies, they will learn to define decarbonization pathways for industrial sectors or sustainable pathways for urban communities.

Closeties with industry stakeholders

The program is distinguished by a teaching approach rooted in real-world experience: case studies, applied projects, and presentations by professionals from partner companies. Through these collaborations, students work on concrete challenges and develop skills that can be immediately applied in the professional world.

The MS ACTION program got off to an enthusiastic start. Students are gradually developing a solid understanding of environmental science, the circular economy, and industrial ecology, while also beginning to delve deeper into life cycle assessment (LCA). It’s inspiring to see their motivation and curiosity grow as they connect theoretical knowledge to the practical challenges of sustainable development.

With the start of the new academic year, ESPCI reaffirms its key role in training highly specialized professionals capable of bridging the gap between technological development and corporate strategy for the environmental transition.


This master’s program is the result of a collaboration between ESPCI Paris – PSL, Chimie ParisTech – PSL, and Dauphine University. It is supported by numerous industrial partners: Saint-Gobain, Arkema, Syensqo, Bostik, and Solvay.
This master’s program is part of the MERCASTO training initiative on environmental transition, which is a “Compétences Métiers d’avenir France 2030” project focused on the decarbonization of industry, funded in June 2024. It is an institutional degree.
