After You Are Admitted

Once your admission or enrollment has been confirmed, there are several steps you’ll need to take.

Check visa requirements

Citizens of the European Union do not need a visa to study in France.

Other applicants should check the requirements corresponding to their nationality, the length of their stay, and the program they are enrolled in on the official France-Visas website.

When a long-stay visa that serves as a residence permit is issued, it must be validated within three months of arrival in France.

Search for Housing

You should start looking for a place to live in Paris as soon as possible.

Several solutions can be considered:

  • student housing;
  • CROUs housing;
  • the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris;
  • the housing options offered by PSL University;
  • the private rental housing stock.

Depending on their circumstances, students may also be eligible for housing guarantees or housing assistance.

Setting Up Your Health Insurance

Enrollment in the health insurance program is free and mandatory for international students who do not already have valid coverage in France.

These steps are completed after enrolling at the institution, on the dedicated Health Insurance portal.

It is also recommended that you purchase supplemental health insurance.

Receive support from PSL University

The PSL Welcome Desk supports international students before and after their arrival in France.

It can provide information and support on:

  • visas and residence permits;
  • housing;
  • health insurance;
  • administrative procedures;
  • Daily life in Paris.

Preparing for Your Arrival in Paris

Before you leave, be sure to:

  • Check that your passport and visa are valid;
  • confirm your housing;
  • set up your health insurance;
  • Gather the documents needed for your registration;
  • estimate the costs associated with your installation;
  • Check the start and orientation dates for your program.
