The Academic Development Council oversees the evolution of the educational programs offered by ESPCI Paris – PSL. It brings together members of the teaching community, engineering students, and external experts from the academic and industrial sectors.
The Role of the Professional Development Council
The Academic Development Council provides advice to senior management and the International Scientific Council on matters related to education.
His work focuses in particular on:
- changes to the curricula;
- the consistency of the engineering curriculum;
- teaching methods and practices;
- the connection between scientific and experimental instruction;
- taking into account developments in research and industry;
- preparing engineering students for their careers.
It serves as a forum for dialogue that allows the school’s educational objectives to be compared with the expectations of engineering students, the academic community, and employers.
A representative sample
The Professional Development Council consists of:
Six representatives from the Teachers’ Council
Three professors and three associate professors, elected by their peers.
Six representatives of the engineering students
The four graduating classes at the school are represented. The representatives are elected by the engineering students.
Eight external figures
Four of the individuals come from the business world and four from academia.
They provide an outside perspective on developments in science, professions, skills, and the needs of society.
Training That Is Constantly Evolving
The recommendations of the Academic Development Council help drive the evolution of the curriculum while preserving the hallmarks of the ESPCI Paris–PSL educational model: a multidisciplinary scientific education, a central focus on experimentation, and close ties to research and innovation.
