Ludwik Leibler, winner of the 2015 European Inventor Award

Ludwik Leibler is a research director at the CNRS, director of the Soft Matter and Chemistry Laboratory, and an associate professor at ESPCI ParisTech. Together with his team, he has introduced a new class of organic materials: vitrimers. Repairable and recyclable, they are, like glass, reversibly moldable at will, while remaining insoluble, lightweight, and strong.

Ludwik Leibler was able to invent entirely original materials by combining in-depth theoretical analysis with a focus on industrial production that was virtually integrated into the design process from the very beginning.

A theoretical physicist by training, Ludwik Leibler is world-renowned for his seminal contributions to the field of polymer nanostructuring and dynamics. He has filed 47 patents and published 177 scientific articles.
